Rivers usually get their water from
rain,
glaciers, melting snow, and surface water
(Reflections on Water p5). However it is more complicated than that. For example the
Snohomish river has water in it that comes from areas where runoff from rainwater can be
influenced by substances from Agricultural/rural residential, Forestry, and even some unknown
sources. The Skykomish andSnoqualmie rivers have a similar situation with the added
complication of industrial or urbanized areas contributing substances to the river water.
(The Trust for Public Land p.72 in the print).
The upper Skagit river doesn't have as much industry or urbanization but there is a lot
of forestry on its tributaries(The Trust for Public Land p.49 in the print).
