Seattle Running Company Last Chance Qualifier 100K & 50-Miler

Results: Julie Udchachon (Alaska) ran 8:20:51 and was the only finisher. Her official 50 mile split was 6:31:54. (Of course she wasn't racing a 50 miler and was pacing herself for a 100k.) A total of 6 athletes toed the starting line; not everyone was intending to run the whole 50 miles / 100km. Complete results (and lap splits) will be posted here soon.

This is the perfect "last chance" opportunity to run a fast 100K or 50M time in order to qualify for the US 100K World Team (qualifying times must be run no later than June 30, 2006.  See USATF website for more details regarding qualifying.)  Greenlake is a popular running and walking area in Seattle.  Because of this the race will take place on a Sunday and will start relatively early to ensure the most clear path for race participants.  The running surface is entirely asphalt (no concrete) and flat with a few, small undulations which help to utilize different muscles - ideal for running fast times!  There are 1/4 mile marks (yellow triangles on inside of path - side closest to water) along the entire path, making it extraordinarily easy to keep track of your pace.  The field size is limited so the race directors didn't have to pay more out-of-pocket money for a permit in order to put on this race.

2.8 mile asphalt loop around Greenlake; ~20' elevation gain/loss per loop
100K = 22.2 loops; 50M = 17.9 loops
Both distances start together, but have separate finish lines.

Aid Station Information

There will be one aid station, located at the start area.
  Electrolyte caps, Gu20, gels, and water will be graciously provided by the Seattle Running Company - thank you!!  Please be sure not to litter on the course.  There is no "clean up crew" to pick up after you.  The loop is only 2.8 miles, so you can wait until the next time you hit the aid station to drop your trash (there are also trash cans every ~100m along the course).  Keep our parks clean!

Other Information

There are four bathrooms and three drinking fountains located along the course.
There is plenty of parking around Greenlake, particularly early on Sunday morning.  It is best to park near the bathhouse theatre (North-West side of lake, off West Green Lake Drive) as there are bathrooms located there and the start line is only about 500m south of there. Or you can park on the south side of the lake, by the Aqua theatre (also bathrooms available). The start is north of that area (on the west side of the lake), approximately 1/2 mile.  Click here for a map and other information about Greenlake.
